LES NÉOCONSERVATEURS. UNE ÉLITE IMPÉRIALE by Laurent Ozon
Les Éditions Géopolitique Profonde
You have undoubtedly heard the term “neocon” used in a conference, interview, article, or book in recent years. It is one of those words that spreads all the more easily because no one has an exact definition for it. It is often used to refer to actors whose roles are unclear, exercising undefined powers for largely incomprehensible purposes, even though political commentators agree that it refers to a network of power encouraging the United States to pursue a policy of assertive and brutal global leadership.
With this essay, Laurent Ozon hopes to contribute to the opening of a public debate on the “neoconservatives,” in light of their history, their key intellectuals, and the effects of their actions. Without such a debate, we are likely to continue to suffer from foreign policies, networks, and interests that are destroying us.

LES FANTÔMES D'AZOVSTAL UN LABORATOIRE DE LA GUERRE URBAINE À MARIOUPOL
by Sylvain Ferreira
Les Éditions Géopolitique Profonde
February 24, 2022, marks the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine to carry out a “special military operation.” Seeking to force Kyiv to negotiate a security agreement on the Kremlin’s terms, the Russian military launches simultaneous attacks from Crimea, eastern Ukraine, and Belarus. On some fronts, the Russian advance encounters unexpected Ukrainian resistance, but along the coast of the Sea of Azov, the Russians quickly reach the outskirts of Mariupol: a major steel-producing city during the Soviet era with its giant industrial complex, AZOVSTAL. Defended by territorial units, marines, and the special “Azov” regiment, Mariupol would go down as one of the fiercest battles of this war that still refuses to be named. This book, of course, aims to revisit the chronological unfolding of this titanic clash, its symbolic and political significance, but also to situate it within a broader analysis of the evolution of urban warfare.

FOWL EULOGIES by Lucie Rico
Colibri, Europa series
A surreal novel about the all-consuming desire to render homage to a life.
Upon her mother’s death, Paule Rojas, a vegetarian city-dweller, returns to the chicken farm where she grew up. Pressured to fulfil her mother’s last request, Paule rediscovers pleasure and meaning in running the old family business. Yet, eager to bring something of herself to a family tradition, Paule embarks on increasingly intricate ways of helping the chickens to self-actualize before their deaths. She records the chickens’ life stories, adding them to the labels that decorate the vacuum-packed meat sent off to market — an individual biography for every chicken. But not all runs smooth in her childhood village; Paule finds she has few friends and many enemies. She is forced to spread her wings, relocate her livestock, and oversee the construction of an urban farm of never-before-seen practices and proportions.

BEE FAMILY by Anya Mugerli
Colibri, Europa series
The seven short stories in “Bee Family” are linked by rituals, ancient customs and traditions of Slovenian culture, which are transposed into a different context or a contemporary setting, where they take on a new role and shape. The theme of family is in the foreground: we read about an unrealised family, a family brought together and separated by the circumstances of life, a family that could become real in another setting. All the stories are set in the present, with the exception of the title story, which is set at a specific historical time, and yet they seem timeless because of the presence of ritual and their atmosphere. The author’s virtuoso use of language entangles us in a world we do not know, although we live in it. In reading these stories, we constantly cross borders – linguistic, cultural, political, geographical – as well as those between reality and the unconscious.

Transatlantic Art Discourse - Exhibition Catalogue
This American-Bulgarian exhibition presents six artists, each one with a distinct vision and voice, in a discourse on the experience and reflection on the moment of “now”. A rich multiplicity of visual languages – representation, abstraction, metaphor and invention – come together in the exhibition of paintings and drawings. Contemporary individual, social and global states take diverse forms through each artist’s personal lens and invite the viewer to engage in a cross-cultural conversation about “now”.
This exhibition exchange project is years in the making. The first part was the exhibition of four contemporary Bulgarian artists at the Laconia Gallery in Boston, in 2017. In this second exhibition, ONE+ Gallery creates the forum for a creative discourse with four artists from the United States and the exhibition’s curators, Elena Peteva and Svilen Stefanov.
